I am not sure you understand that this angle or slope needs to be continious around the intire rim. What you are trying to accomplish is to create a ledge all the way around the rim that mates and matches the slope (radiused rise) of the backs (or tops) dome.

I was aware of it. But no, I really don't have too much understanding of the whole 'Radius Picture'. My thoughts were, that the back would need radiusing after getting to the stage I'm at. It was just a little visually dismaying when I saw such a big gap between the heel block and the back, and I wasn't sure what to make of it, and freaked out ! I did get a little carried away w/ my new bench grinder before gluing it to the sides. I now think it will be OK when I sand it w/ the Dish, even now that I've added a shim. Lotta of great advice here...Thanks

hey Rich I will ask a question I ask all newbie’s when the encounter a structural issue.

Are you keeping a journal on the build, and are you likely to build again. If you are I highly suggest that you keep a daily journal. Noting every step. The successes and the troubles. If you continue to build you will find this journal to be one of your most valuable tool in the shop. I keep one and list minutia like the stiffness of materials, tap tones gluing issues. You name it I note it. It has save my hynie many times.

"Those that do not note the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them"

There you have officially received my sermon from the workbench

The Journal is in the shop. I've yet to score a mark in it. I have been taking Pics of the build progress & my intention is to add my take on it, be it good, bad, or fugly!
Yes, I have have every intention of building more. I have gotten some other sets of wood, invested in a few tools, and have rebuilt my small, but functional 150 sq ft workspace. So, this is something I've wanted for quite some time. Now, I all have to do is...make it work!
